sign language

This carpark in Melbourne Austrailia has taken an interesting
approach to their wayfinding signage. Upon certain angles,
the graphics are perfectly legible and in others, ah not so much.
Accident inducing or good idea?

book arts

Japanese designer Katsumi Komagata started making children's books
in 1994 when he became a father. These incredible books beautifully
tell stories through die cuts and color combinations on each page.
The most interesting concept is I'm Gonna Be Born which
describes birth from a baby's perspective. Komagata also has a series
of tactile books for the visually impared and another of die cut cards for
children to interact with their parents. They are all almost too pretty
to put in a kid's hands. Learn more here.

fade to black

Brazillian artist Iran do Espirito Santo's "En Passant"
is a comment on art shows (read more here) but what
caught my eye was that it looks like the gradient we
use, a lot, in Illustrator. I suggest you read the artist's
actual intent...it's much smarter.

office of campus life

The New York Times had an interesting article in the Sunday
Magazine this past weekend about the corporate campuses
of yore. There is also a collection of wonderful images of IBM,
Bell Labs, and Pespsi-Co. Both IBM and Bell capuses are for
sale and could possibly be torn down.

apples in stereo

We're all suckers for good looking things and that's one of the
many reasons why Apple products are so appealing. Take a look
at this very interesting article sighting Apple's (specifically designer
Jonathan Ive) design inspiration from a past industrial designer: Dieter
Rams. Rams was head of design at Braun earlier last century and was
a huge influence to designers like Ive and even Jasper Morrisson.
